Bruce’s Summary: We’ve all heard how power besets power and this case had all the elements of a steamy novel. However, this story is real and the author shows that egocentric power-addiction is not a protected disability that needs to be accommodated, yet. So many times, these stories have a common theme, the person in authority starts generating revenue – a lot of revenue, then something happens. Sometimes the perception is that he or she can’t be touched and if we do something they may leave and/or revenue will be negatively affected. In this case revenue was negatively affected to the tune of $924,500 in compensatory damages and $6.4 million in punitive damages. Ignoring the obvious and allowing “problem children” to continue to behave badly, never pays, it only increases the cost of doing business. “None of the information contained herein should be construed as legal advice, nor are Calvin Associates consultants engaged to offer legal advice.
