HR’s Challenge of Not Being Everything to Everybody

HR Starr Conference Los Angeles, March 16, 2017

On March 16, 2017, HR Starr held its annual HR Conference in Los Angeles, California. This conference annually draws more than 800 participants for the one day. I had the honor of presenting to a large group of HR Professionals “HR’s Challenge of Not Being Everything to Everybody.” As with all my sessions, an interactive and participative learning environment ensued allowing real time participant involvement and dialogue. A number of current real world topics were explored including, “What is HR?”, “Who has Real Responsibility and Ownership for HR Functions”, “Sphere of Influence”, “HR’s Role in Being the Driver of Change,” and more.

Since 2014 I have been focusing on both the broad role that Human Resources Professionals plays within their organization, regardless of size and helping those HR Professionals better understand that a key part of their individual core responsibility lies in developing, driving and maintaining solid partnerships within their organization. As individual partnerships begin to develop a natural fallout occurs, the seeds of trust, credibility, reliability and respect begin developing and it’s HR’s role to ensure each individual partnership continues to grow. On the subject, I have now had the honor of presenting at two major Human Resource conferences. First – the 2016 HR Starr Conferences in los Angeles and San Francisco. Second – the HR West Conference in Oakland on March 6th, 2017. Each of the above HR Conferences individually draw between 800 to 1,000 HR professionals. My next HR Conference presentation will be July 12 in South San Francisco at the HR Starr San Francisco Conference. Have questions – facing similar challenges? Let’s connect!

Magnifying the PI – The Roles & Responsibilities of the Private Investigator

Written for the Association of Workplace Investigators – AWI Journal September 2016

Recently I co-wrote an article about the roles and responsibilities of the private investigator for The Association of Workplace Investigators – AWI Journal September 2016. The article outlines some rules that govern a PI’s activities in investigations such as informing law enforcement about a witness’s criminal activities, performing an independent investigation vs. one performed under the direction of an attorney, and carrying firearms. I invite you to read the article:

Seminar Leader – Trainer 2016: Communication, Conflict Resolution, & Diversity

On December 9th and January 20th 2016 I presented a two part training session on Communication, Conflict Resolution and Diversity to the Operations Department at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The training sessions were designed to show how these three distinct subjects, although thought to be somewhat separate, are actually interwoven and make us who we are today. With a better understanding of this uniqueness, we all have the potential to be more successful and can begin to better understand both our own makeup and the makeup of others in how we act and react in our workplace environment.
